I didn't make it. I made it 52km.
It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that I have "retired" from the 100km walk. I made it 52 km, which is further than I have ever walked in a day before. I could sit here and blame the rain and headwind, which was not fun at all, but in reality the rain has stopped. The reason I have to quit is that my pace was way too slow and I was about to "timed out" at the next checkpoint. So I opted for a warm & cozy convenience store to wait for a ride home.
The reason my pace was so slow was that I did zero training for this event. I have been nursing a bad ankle for a number of months and was trying to take it easy so that it wouldn't swell up during this event. The good news is that my ankle is doing fine. The bad news is that my lack of preparation left me woefully unprepared for the necessary pace to finish this event. That was a big mistake on my part.
Thanks to everybody who supported me. I will do some proper prep and try again in the future!

30 km

about 30km now. Light rain but not too bad. My feet hurt but I have a long way to go. I am taking a short break now.

That must have cheered Dave Up!!!

New Marvel Movie

Do we have any Marvel fans at NEO? I have been a fan of comic books since I was a kid, and I enjoy seeing them come to life on the silver screen. I think the Marvel movies, such as Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, have been especially good. I’m a bit of a Marvel geek.

On Friday, April 29th, the next installment in the series hit screens in Japan. This one is called Captain America: Civil War, and it features many of the heroes pitted against each other. If you watched the Avengers movies, this is an exciting time.

There have been 13 Marvel movies so far, including Civil War. Below is a timeline that shows all the movies and TV shows that are part of the universe so far (you can click it to make it bigger). You don’t have to watch them all, but you should try one or two and see if you like them!

Vocabulary:
silver screen: movie screen
geek: fanatic
installment: part of a series
hit screens: came to movie theaters
pitted against each other: fighting each other
