Setouchi Contemporary

A music festival in Okayama? Yep, it happened, believe it or not. This was the second year of the Setouchi Contemporary festival. It was held down in Tamano, near Uno Port. This year, it was a two-day event with quite a few popular musicians.

I was lucky enough to get a free ticket for Sunday. I didn’t know any of the performers very well, but listening to live music is always a pleasure. I went home with a few new favorites.

The whole venue was a lot of fun – good music, excellent food stalls, interesting drinks, and even a DJ area where people were dancing well into the evening. After getting your wristband, you could move freely between all areas of the venue. Best of all, it wasn’t too crowded! I think a lot of people stayed home because the forecast looked rainy, but in the end it barely rained at all.

I’m hoping this will be an annual event…cross your fingers for Setouchi Contemporary 2027!
