A new journey
I have some sad news. I’m going to be leaving NEO in the middle of July.
I’ve been here since 2009, and I have really enjoyed teaching all of you. One of the greatest joys of teaching is watching students grow. I have taught many of you for five years now, and I am impressed with how much each of you has grown.
Of course, I can’t take much credit. NEO is a wonderful school, with a great and supportive staff. It’s very clear that Ayumi, Dave, Nick, and Manami sincerely support all of you. Also, the educational system of the courses at NEO is very beneficial – even though you often complain about “too much homework.” One of the things that I’ve enjoyed about working here is how important your English education is to all of us at NEO.
I will certainly miss being able to help you achieve your goals.
And that’s the end of the bad news. I also have some good news: I’m staying in Okayama.
I’ve decided to become a freelance editor, so I will be working from home most of the time. That means I will still be able to attend parties, meet you around town, or maybe see a couple of you when I go jogging along the Asahi River.
So this isn’t really a “good-bye.” It’s sad that we won’t see as much of each other as before. But on the other hand, when we do see each other, you won’t have to worry about me correcting your English if you make mistakes.
新しい門出
私RJから寂しいお知らせがあります。
7月中旬でNEOを退職する運びになりました。
2009年からNEOで皆さんのレッスンを担当し、とても楽しくさせてもらいました。レッスンをさせてもらい、一番の喜びは生徒さんの上達を感じることでした。この5年間で沢山の人を教えさせてもらいましたが、（ご本人の自覚はないかもしれませんが）皆さんが上達するのには感心させられました。
もちろん私だけの力ではないと思います。NEOでは皆さんの英語学習をサポートしてくれるスタッフがいます。ニック、デイブ、まなみさん、あゆみが心から皆さんの英語上達の手助けをしてくれていることは明白です。NEOでの英語学習システムも学習者の人にとってよくできています。「宿題多すぎ！」と生徒の方はよく言われますが。NEOで働いていて喜びだと感じていたことは、NEOスタッフ全員にとって生徒の皆さんの英語学習が大切だと認識できたいたことです。
皆さんの英語学習にお役に立てなくなることはとても残念です。
悪いお知らせはここまでです。逆にいいお知らせもあります。岡山には残る予定です。
退職後の予定ですが、フリーのエディター（Editor）になります。自宅で仕事をするようになりますので何かのイベントやパーティがあれば会えますし、街なかでみかけたり、旭川沿いでのジョギングで顔を合わせる人もいるかもしれませんね。
ですので本当の「さようなら」ではありません。NEOでいつものように会うことはなくなりますが、逆に今度会ったときは皆さんの英語の間違いを指摘することもありませんのでご安心を！
